BBUK with LBIA is dismayed by the ruling of the European Court of Justice on Tuesday
Report Jeremy Havardi
B’nai B’rith, together with its advocacy arm, the London Bureau, is dismayed by the ruling of the European Court of Justice on Tuesday that Israeli products produced in the West Bank, the Golan and eastern Jerusalem must be labelled as stemming from ‘Israeli settlements.’ This ruling, which makes it mandatory for EU states to apply such labels, is a significant boon to the BDS movement which seeks to isolate and destroy the Jewish state. We believe that it will deflate the prospects for peace and further entrench opposition to Israel from Palestinian leaders. We are also concerned that the ECJ’s position is inconsistent with other disputed areas whereby no such labelling is required. We reiterate our belief that Palestinians will never have a viable peace agreement built on the demonisation of Israel.
