BB Radlett started it’s programme in May 2018. A group of eight friends all agreed that it was a good idea and spread the word among their friends and acquaintances. The first meeting attracted about 28 people. Since then we have met approximately monthly, with breaks over the summer and the Yomim Tovim.
We are also delighted to welcome people who do not necessarily live in the Radlett area and already have members from Finchley, Whetstone and Hampstead Garden Suburb.
We have had speakers on various topics including a costume designer in the film industry, a comedienne (from Cheshire Unity Lodge), a specialist in the study of twins, our own Jeremy Havardi from the LBIA, a serving Jewish doctor in the British Armed Services, and most recently, the story of a doctor who was a Prisoner of War of the Japanese by his son (also a member of Cheshire Unity Lodge).
In December we had a theatre outing for 22 of us who went to see the latest staging of “Fiddler on the Roof” which was fantastic. This summer we have planned a walking tour of London’s East End with Rachel Kolsky, and a Jewish Interest tour of Bletchley Park led by Marcus Roberts. Both Rachel and Marcus are specialists in their subjects and we are looking forward to their walks.
The number of members is increasing and we hope to be officially welcomed into the world-wide community of B’nai B’rith International before too long.
