BB London Bureau of International Affairs attended Hungary's National Day reception
Report by Jeremy Havardi
On Thursday 25th October, Tony Swabe, Eve Swabe and Jeremy Havardi attended Hungary’s National Day reception at the National Army Museum to mark the 62nd anniversary of the 1956 Revolution. After a welcome by His Excellency Ambassador Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky, there was a speech by the Rt Hon Earl Howe, Minister of State for Defence, who reminded those present of the tragic events of that year but also extolled relations between the two countries. The museum’s Director, Justin Maciejewski, then previewed an exhibition on the Hungarian Hussars. The event was an excellent opportunity to learn about Hungarian history and culture, as well as to meet senior diplomats.
