Open Doors: Garnethill Synagogue
Report from Jewish Telegraph
OPEN DOORS: A huge number of people visited Garnethill Synagogue and the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre on Sunday. Around 900 from throughout Scotland, Israel, USA, France, Spain, Ireland and Finland went to the shul as part of this year’s Glasgow’s Doors Open Day Festival. Connor McGinley from Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, who visited with his wife Dawn, told how they had walked past the shul recently and were so pleased to get the opportunity to see inside. Also Barbara Niren and her son Adam were fascinated to view material at the Archives Centre about Barbara’s grandmother, Sophie Geneen, who ran Geneen’s kosher hotel and restaurant.
